What we Believe
Corner Canyon Church is a bible believing church
-
We believe in one God who eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is God who took on human flesh by being born of a virgin.
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross and rose again bodily on the third day.
-
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, completely inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and is the final infallible standard for the Christian life.
-
We believe in the literal, physical second coming of Jesus Christ and that we will live with Jesus Christ forever in a new heaven and new earth.
We believe in the resurrection of the saved and the lost.
-
We believe that our purpose is to glorify God by enjoying him forever and this is in part accomplished by practicing and following the way of Jesus as His disciples through the help of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Christian Church is not found in only one place, denomination, or group, but that the Church is alive and active and loved by God and used by God through the working of God to bring peoples into relationship with Him.
We believe that the grace of God produces growth in the Christian life.
-
We believe that in our salvation, Jesus took our sin and that we receive His righteousness by trusting in Him as our Lord and Savior.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone in Jesus apart from any works.
-
We have all sinned against God and broke the covenant He made with us; keeping us from right relationship with Him and in exile from God.
God being perfect and perfectly just cannot allow imperfect persons in His presence and must cast us out to punishment . As Matthew 25:46 clearly describes the punishment of the unrighteous: “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
-
God in His great love and grace for His creation and children sent His only Son -Jesus- to take on a human nature to fulfill his perfect standard of righteousness for us and to take the punishment of our sins. (Philippians 2:6-11)
When Jesus Christ was on the cross, the debt of our sins were transferred to him and he was punished in our place. We receive His righteousness by Grace through faith alone. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” So there was a great transaction that took place on the cross.
