What we Believe
Corner Canyon Church is a bible believing church
-
We believe in one God who exists forever as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, yet there is only one God (Matthew 28:19).
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God who became fully human, born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23; John 1:14).
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross and rose bodily from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Luke 24:6-7). -
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the final authority for faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
-
We believe in the literal, physical return of Jesus Christ and that believers will live with Him forever in a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-4; Acts 1:11).
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, with the saved raised to eternal life and the lost to eternal judgment (John 5:28-29; Daniel 12:2).
-
We believe that the Christian Church is not confined to a single place, denomination, or group but is the living, active body of Christ, loved and used by God to bring people into relationship with Him (Ephesians 4:4-6; Matthew 28:19-20).
We believe that the grace of God is the foundation for spiritual growth and transformation in both the Church as a whole and in the life of individual Christians (Titus 2:11-12; 2 Peter 3:18).
-
We believe that in salvation, Jesus took our sin upon Himself, and we receive His righteousness by trusting in Him as our Lord and Savior (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 10:9-10).
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone in Jesus, apart from any works (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). -
We have all sinned against God, who is infinitely just and perfectly good. Because of His perfect justice, sin cannot be overlooked, and we deserve an eternal punishment. God, in His holiness, cannot allow sin into His presence.
As Jesus said in Matthew 25:46, “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." This highlights the sobering reality of sin’s consequences and the need for God’s grace.
-
God, in His great love and grace, sent His only Son, Jesus, to take on human nature, fulfill His perfect standard of righteousness on our behalf, and bear the punishment for our sins (Philippians 2:6-11).
On the cross, our sins were placed on Jesus, and He was punished in our place. In exchange, we receive His righteousness through grace by faith alone. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” This was the great exchange that took place on the cross—our sin for His righteousness.
